Sussex County Diving Championships for 1m and 3m
The Sussex county 1m and 3m Diving Championships took place at
Worthing Aquarena on 17th July 2008.
In the Girls 1m event Catherine Helmer from Worthing won with
60.95 points and Rachel Fairs came 2nd with 51.90 points. Joe
Hazeldine came 2nd in the Boys 1m with 67.50 points. The
Ladies 1m competition was won by Polly Simon with 114.65
points and Megan Warrington came second with 107.45 points.
Polly Simon also won the Ladies 3m Competition with 134.10
points.
Well done to all divers and we hope to have more competing
next year.
GBDF Winter Masters Diving Competition 2008
Two Worthing Divers Catherine Harris and Elizabeth Fairs took
part in this even on the 8th November 2008 in Tunbridge Wells.
Divers had to perform 6 dives with at least one dive on each
level board (1m springboard, 3m springboard and 5m
Platform); so with thanks to Crawley Diving Club the Worthing
Divers were able to have a training session using the 5m
Platform at K2 prior to the Competition.
Catherine Harris placed 6th in the Womens 16-24 Open
Championship with 165.50 points choosing to perform an
Armstand Somersault off the 5m Platform. Elizabeth Fairs
placed 4th in the Womens 25-29 Open Championship with 155.45
Points and performing a 1 and a half Somersault off the 5m
Platform.
Sussex Plain Diving 2008
The Sussex Plain Diving took place in Worthing on 13th
November 2008. Seven Divers from worthing took part in the
plain Diving which comprises of a series of forward dives off
the 1m and 3m in various positions.
The Under 13 years Girls and Boys events were won by
brother and sister Joe and Daisy Hazeldine with
49.90 and 51.85 points. Rachel Fairs came 2nd in the Girls U13 with
43.75 points and Callum Long came 3rd in the Boys U13
with 38.70 points.
The Girls Under 17 Competition was won by Catherine Helmer
from Worthing with 86.55 points and Tara Osbourne also from
Worthing came 3rd with 64.75 points.
Worthing Divers Elizabeth Fairs and Catherine Helmer came 1st
and 2nd in the Ladies open with 109.20 and
104.90 points.
Worthing Swimming Club Novice Diving
Competition
Takes place tonight (Thursday 4th December 2008) at 7pm,
Divers will be performing a Forward Dive and a Back dive off
either the Side or the 1m Board, followed by a Pike Line-up
off either the 1m or 3m Board.
